ACTIVITES

Musée des Plaines d'Abraham

The site of many clashes for supremacy between the French and British Empires, the park is the scene of the 1759 Conquest, which changed the fate of North America. Apart from its historical past, the park is to Québec what Central Park and Hyde Park are to New York and London: a city park of outstanding value, the lungs of the city. One hundred and three hectares of meadow and grassy knolls, decked with flowers or covered with snow, are there for residents and visitors to enjoy.

Chutes Montmorency

Parc de la Chute-Montmorency is a few minutes from Québec City. Located between the river and the cliffs, it's one of the province's most spectacular sites. With its 83 meters high (30 meters higher than Niagara Falls), Montmorency Falls dominates the landscape. It can be discovered on foot, by cable car, or from the gourmet restaurant. It's an ideal setting for a stroll after a business meeting or a reception. For the more active, a 300-meters double zipline, and the via ferrata, a hiking trail on a cliff, promises some adrenaline and breathtaking views. Accessible year-round, the site works its magic day and night. During winter, in very cold weather, fine splashesfrom the fallsfreeze and eventuallyform the famous Sugar Loaf, an impressive cone of ice at the foot of the waterfall. The entire cove of the park has been illuminated after dark. Discover an impressive and enchanting spot!

Parc du Bois-de-Coulonge

One of the most remarkable parks in the city, Spencer Wood became a showcase for horticulture in North America through the efforts of its owner, Henry Atkinson. For nearly 20 years, the governors-general of United Canada lived on the property, which was purchased by the Québec government in 1870 and served as the residence of Québec lieutenant-governors until 1966. A major fire destroyed the main residence. Visit the gorgeous park by the St. Lawrence River, beautiful gardens and the vestiges of the site’s long history. Parking. Interpretation centre and guided tours in the summer.
